How can therapy help my child?

Therapy can help your child with behavioural and emotional issues, from school related problems such as bullying and friendship issues to problems with your child’s sleep or emotional regulation. I can tailor an individual approach which can effectively meet the needs of your child. Evidence shows the earlier your child gets treatment, the easier it is to not only help them but prevent the development of mental health problems.

Therapy for children does differ from that of adults, that said most of the methods used with children are very effective on adults too. We may find sessions vary depending on how your child is feeling and in many ways the sessions may be led by them. For all children under 16 (depending on your child’s needs teens may feel more comfortable with you outside the room for at least part of the session). I integrate CBT, ACT, hypnotherapy, mindfulness, relaxation techniques, self-compassion and coping skills with imaginative play, role playing, paints and lots of glitter!
